Been searching a lot of forums and pages, finally found the right way to do it. Press the power button and the Volume down button simultaneously and wait for 3 seconds. Puff - Screenshot! Now one thing that you should make sure while doing this is not press on button first and the other later eve though you are still pressing the first button! Wont work. Both has to be simultaneous.

Snapdeal along with Micromax cheating their customers?

There is a reason why I made this statement, pretty simple. I ordered my Canvas HD from Snapdeal yesterday around 11:00 Am when it was shown 'available'. Thankfully got it booked and the website said - 'Product to be dispatched in 1 business days'. I was thrilled.

In their tracking page, like a kid who got his first ever comic book, I kept refreshing the page to check if the product has been dispatched. It said - To be dispatched on 10th of April. I kept checking checking checking, nothing. Found it very unusual, so I called up the customer care. This dude picked up and said - 'Sir, the product will be dispatched from our side today but if anything happens, we will surely send you an SMS stating the next delivery date' - This is where I smelt something fishy. I said OK, kept the call and was hoping for the best. An hour later, I get the message saying 'Sorry, the shipment has been delayed till 15th of April'. Now this was the heights of frustration and I couldn’t take it. So I call up the Snapdeal executive and asked him for an explanation. I was pretty pissed off. So he said he will transfer to his manager, which he did. Manager said the usual thing - Our apologies sir. I said I don’t need any shitty apology, but just tell me why I got that SMS when your website promised the availability of the product and a dispatch date of one day. This is the explanation that they gave - 'Sir, We are just mediators; the problem is from Micromax's side. They let us know the availability of the product and we put it up, but they didn’t keep up with it'. I asked them for the past 2 month you made customers wait for over a month to deliver the product, and still you trust Micromax on their 'supply' promise? He again said - 'Our apologies'. This time he said, at times when this happens, a technical glitch happens in our website and the website automatically shows the product is available, when it is actually not. Yes, He actually said that!

So when snapdeal says the product is available, in reality it 'might not' be! You end up paying 15K when you actually paying for a void cart. So please make sure they will dispatch it in the mentioned number of days before you put in the order. Beware!

WickeadLeak Wammy Titan 2 Vs Micromax Canvas HD - What to choose?

With all the confusion surrounding the Canvas HD cell phone production issues, people have started moving away from the idea of buying a Canvas HD. One option would be the Wammy Titan 2. Lets have a look at the specs here

Screen Size: 5.3 Inch
Resolution: 960 X 540 (Thumbs down)
Processor: Mediatek MT6589/ 1.2 Quad-core(A Qualcomm Snapdragon processor could have been nicer ;))

1 GB RAM4 GB Internal memory (But you do have an option to do App2SD without rooting)

8 Megapixel rear camera
5 Megapixel Front camera (Really, A 5 MP camera? Wao!)
3000 mAh battery (A big thumbs up)
Dual Sim card slot

Looking at the specs, the phone kind of over takes Canvas HD in a few many aspects especially the front cam and battery, but resolution is pretty bad. I always go for resolution first, So for me canvas HD is still the good bet! But the phone sure has hit the Smartphone market with a bang! And Samsung galaxy Grand has for sure a very tight competitor here.

Flipkart plays dirty game marketing Micromax Canvas HD A116?

I think I get Flipkart's strategy here. There are 2 according to me

1. We 'idiots' (according to flipkart) who are badly waiting for the phone will buy it no matter what the price is. so within a day they could earn from atleast 100 pieces. Profit!

2. Micromax gave the first choice to Snapdeal. Pretty obvious flipkart didnt like it. so priced the phone high. Now what people are doing are writing bad reviews about Flipkart NOT the phone, but unknowingly a few are giving 1/5 rating. Finally what reflects is a bad rating to the phone. Canvas HD is rated 3.9/5 in Flipkart at the moment. Tit for tat!

If this stays true, what a shame!

Micromax Canvas HD A116 available at Flipkart priced at 15,999

Just when we thought Flipkart was one of those websites that never played dirty tricks, there you are! Flipkart has priced the Micromax Canvas HD at a platinum prices of around Rs 16,000. This was never expected from Flipkart. I don't think micromax has got anything to do with this high price tag.

Now all I have to say is avoid this Over priced canvas HD

Been a faithful supporter all the while long, not anymore. Enough is enough and playing with the buyers emotions and cheap market tactis has their limits. Fail is the only word I can use here. Big fail. If you are looking for other options now, Karbonn Titanium S5 is available for Rs 11,990 that has a Quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 5 inch display. If you are looking for a better display, then go for Gionee Dream D1, priced at 15,999. Also  Xolo X1000 with an Intel processor a bit overpriced at 20000 is also available.

If you still want to buy the phone, you can buy it from the Flipkart website.

How to root your Micromax Canvas HD A116

Now that micromax Canvas HD A116 has slowly started showing its lights in the market, many of you would already be thinking of rooting your phone. Here I will explain how to do rooting.

A few things I want to clarify before you get into rooting

1. Root only if you feel the need to do it

2. Know what you are doing

3. Warranty gets void

4. Follow the steps properly

5. And finally a disclaimer: I don't take any responsibility for bricking your Canvas HD! Please do it only if you are very sure about this!

What you need before rooting?
  1. Backup all the data if you need to
  2. Make sure that your phone is completely charged as the installation could take some time. You don’t want a bricked phone!
  3. Drivers – Install them as its necessary for the device to be identified by your Laptop/PC. If you don’t have them, please download it.
  4. Download the following software:
    1.  Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
    2.  su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip
       How to Root Canvas HD?
  1. First you need to copy Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip and su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip to your SD card. So connect your Canvas HD to your laptop/PC using the data cable, select ‘disk drive’ option on the phone (if that option comes up), then go to My computer, click on your SD card drive and save these two downloaded files into that.  Make sure you remember where the files were copied to (*).
  2. Remove the data cable from the phone and switch off your Canvas HD.
  3. Hold ‘Volume up’ + ‘Volume down’ + ‘Power button’ all together and wait until you see a page that says ‘press Volume Up for recovery’ or something similar. Once the message comes, press volume up button on the side of your Canvas HD.
  4. Now what you will be seeing is a menu page display on probably a black screen. What you have to do is either go down or go up using the volume up and down button and navigate to ‘install zip from zip card’. Once you reach this option, press the power button to select the option.
  5. Now click on choose zip from SD card'.
  6. You now have to navigate to Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip you copied (*) above and press Power to select it.
  7. Now go down and select Yes – install Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip’ and press Power button to start flashing your smartphone.
  8. Now go back to main menu
  9. Follow the previous steps (from 4 to 7) and similarly install su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip file.
  10. Now reboot your system after the previous file is installed
Once the system reboots, check for Super user app in the application list. Your phone is now rooted!

A big thanks to the developers!

Root and enjoy!
