A review of Lava Xolo A100. Can it outplay Canvas HD A116?

Looks
The phone, as a whole looks pretty decent. To be frank, it actually beats Canvas HD in looks! But if you look closely, a flaw (is it?) that one could notice is the position of the camera button. What we usually get to see is a button on the right hand side of the phone, so that clicking a photo becomes easy for the user, but here it’s on the left side of the phone. Could not actually make out why they put the button there! The back camera, 8 MP, is a bit protruded outwards which by the looks of it, is not that appealing. Display wise, it is a 5 inch HD 1280 x 720 with a 295 ppi pixel density. The view angles for the phone are pretty decent and the screen looks pretty sharp. So beats Canvas HD on looks.

Camera
The phone has an 8 MP Autofocus rear cam and a 1.2 MP front cam. Image clicking happens with ease, and the clarity is pretty good. The downside though is the fact that the videos recorded using this phone is a '.3gp' format which is a very ancient one! Again can’t understand the reason behind this.

Operating System
The phone comes with a 4.1.1. Andy Jellybean, quite similar to all the JB family. The addition is the presence of apps like Xolo Care, typically a hassle free customer service app. Not bad!

The speed and performance factor
The phone comes with a 1 GHz Mediatek's dual-core MT6577 chipset with 1 GB Ram. Downside is frequent crashes while running multiple apps.

Performance/ Battery
This smartphone is powered by Mediatek's dual-core MT6577 chipset, which clocks in at a speed of 1GHz. This is coupled with 1GB RAM. The Xolo A1000 is quite responsive and we did not encounter any lags or crashes while multi-tasking. The 2100 mAH battery can last for a day maximum depending on the usage, but the backup is pretty decent.

Verdict
It sure is a great competitor to Canvas HD, as it beats the Canvas in a lot of aspects. But at the end of the day what we need is more reliability and better service  along with a decent performance., Although both the phones do provide that,  Micromax has a slight upper edge considering its reach and service availability all over India.
