How to root your Micromax Canvas HD A116

Now that micromax Canvas HD A116 has slowly started showing its lights in the market, many of you would already be thinking of rooting your phone. Here I will explain how to do rooting.

A few things I want to clarify before you get into rooting

1. Root only if you feel the need to do it

2. Know what you are doing

3. Warranty gets void

4. Follow the steps properly

5. And finally a disclaimer: I don't take any responsibility for bricking your Canvas HD! Please do it only if you are very sure about this!

What you need before rooting?

1. Backup all the data if you need to
2. Make sure that your phone is completely charged as the installation could take some time. You don’t want a bricked phone!
3. Drivers – Install them as its necessary for the device to be identified by your Laptop/PC. If you don’t have them, please download it.
4. Download the following software: 
1.  Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
2.  su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip

       How to Root Canvas HD?

1. First you need to copy Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip and su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip to your SD card. So connect your Canvas HD to your laptop/PC using the data cable, select ‘disk drive’ option on the phone (if that option comes up), then go to My computer, click on your SD card drive and save these two downloaded files into that.  Make sure you remember where the files were copied to (*).
2. Remove the data cable from the phone and switch off your Canvas HD.
3. Hold ‘Volume up’ + ‘Volume down’ + ‘Power button’ all together and wait until you see a page that says ‘press Volume Up for recovery’ or something similar. Once the message comes, press volume up button on the side of your Canvas HD.
4. Now what you will be seeing is a menu page display on probably a black screen. What you have to do is either go down or go up using the volume up and down button and navigate to ‘install zip from zip card’. Once you reach this option, press the power button to select the option.
5. Now click on ‘choose zip from SD card'.
6. You now have to navigate to Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip you copied (*) above and press Power to select it.
7. Now go down and select Yes – install Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip’ and press Power button to start flashing your smartphone.
8. Now go back to main menu
9. Follow the previous steps (from 4 to 7) and similarly install su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip file.
10. Now reboot your system after the previous file is installed

     Once the system reboots, check for Super user app in the application list. Your phone is now rooted!

Micromax A116 Canvas HD finally in online stores

After days of confusion, Micromax Canvas HD is slowly entering the retail market! The Infibeam and Univercell website has already got pieces ready to deliver that too only a bit more that the current market price and is priced at 14,999! It also promises shipping within 24 hours. Pretty neat!

Micromax planning to release an Ultra HD Canvas 3?

Ok. Now that Micromax is slowly clearing its backlogs with the very infamous Canvas HD + Snapdeal blunder, things are getting back to normal. The Micromax HD Facebook fan page is now flooding with news about the phone being delivered to their customers one by one and all we are getting to see is happy smiling accomplished faces!

So now that HD is getting its well deserved recognition, rumors state that Micromax is actually building a Canvas 3 now, which is still not official (To be called as Canvas Pro HD?). A few speculated specifications are as mentioned below.

1. Internal memory - 8 GB

2. 2 GHz Quad core processor

3. Ram - 2GB

4. A 13 MP Rear and 3.2MP(?) Front camera

5. 5.5 inch  HD LCD Display (With corning glass?)

6. 1920 X 1080 P resolution (WoW!)

Now all these are speculations, but as promised by Micromax, the fact stays that they are going to flood the market with smartphones and with the achievement got by the success of Canvas HD, an Ultra HD is for sure on its way. 

The speculate price is between 18,000 to 20,000 INR

Micromax to increase the price of Canvas HD A116 by 500 Rupees

So for those who are waiting for the re release of Micromax Canvas HD A116, there is one good news and one bad news. The good news is, the phone will be available in the market soon. But the bad news is, there will be a hike of around 500Rs in the price of the phone due to the new budget requirements. So the price will be hiked from Rs 13,990 to 14,499.

For people who have been waiting for more than a month for the phone even after placing an order, people are in a very bad revolting mood. Knowing or unknowingly, the blunder caused by micromax is effecting none other that snapdeal.com. People have started losing  their trust on snapdeal. Micromax Canvas HD A 116 release delayed: To be expected by first week of April

So bad news again. Micromax Canvas HD release has yet been delayed. For those who booked on Feb 14th, almost a month after the release, Micromax has started shipping the order. Apparently Snapdeal is waiting for the next lot of delivery from Micromax so that they can deliver the product to people who ordered it post Feb 14th! 

Now regarding the next release date of Canvas HD - Apparently, Micromax and Snapdeal are yet to deliver around 5000 pieces that was preordered and you cant expect the product to hit the retail store before April. So the wait is still on... A very long, but unnecessary waste! 

Micromax Canvas HD A116 - When is the next release date?

One of the most anticipated smartphones in India - Micromax Canvas HD, hit the market on the Valentines day (Feb 14, 2013) at 12 Am. I was keeping a close watch on the status of the sales. Kept refreshing the 'Snapdeal.com' page for around 20 minutes, and I couldn't believe my eyes - The product got sold out! Within a mere 20 minutes? I felt it was some big technical flaw with the snapdeal website. Later came to know the product was actually sold out! And why shouldn't it have? 13,999 for a Quad core smartie! What had to happen, happened.


Now comes the funny part. All people who wanted to buy kept waiting and after another 2 to 3 days, the product again came in the snapdeal website - and yet again - SOLD OUT! What next? Again a release - But this time the dispatch time was given to be around 15 to 20 days. A few days later, that also got sold out, and till date all we get to see is "Oops! You are late"! 

I do understand the fact that there was a Chinese new year, and they could be a delay in the re releases, but this late? Its now almost a month and still there is no Canvas HD available. I read somewhere that the product will be back in the market by 2nd week of March, but still there is no official news about the release. And to make matters worse, Micromax is not giving us a tentative date. All we can hope now is the re-release is worth it, and it happens soon now. Waiting, Waiting & Wanting....!
